What is the benefit of alginic acid?

When alginic acid comes into contact with gastric acids, alginic acid forms a gel shown to relieve gastric discomfort in clinical studies.

Why did we add potassium bicarbonate? 

When combined with alginic acid, potassium bicarbonate forms a temporary foam barrier between the stomach and the esophagus.

Raft-forming alginate 

When alginic acid and potassium bicarbonate in Esophageal Guardian come into contact with gastric acids, alginic acid forms a gel, and potassium bicarbonate produces bubbles, which are then trapped in that gel. This formula contains calcium and magnesium carbonate to provide maximum support for esophageal comfort.
